The existing path was far from attractive, overrun with weeds and in constant need of fresh mulch each year. The first step was to clear the existing path, removing the weeds and old mulch to make way for a fresh start. Once the area was cleared, we set about creating a solid foundation - the bedrock of any good pathway.
We laid down a weed-resistant cloth, a simple yet effective measure to prevent those pesky weeds from making a comeback. This cloth serves as a barrier, blocking weed growth while allowing water to permeate, thereby ensuring the ground beneath remains healthy and well-drained. We also defined the path and a new flower bed with rugged steel boundaries, ensuring the path will withstand the rigors of our Austin climate.
Next came the star of the show - the flagstone pavers. Known for their rugged natural beauty and durability, these pavers were the perfect choice for this project. Each stone was meticulously placed, creating a path that was as sturdy as it was stylish.
But the job wasn't finished just yet. We backfilled the spaces between the pavers with weed-resistant crushed stone. Not only did this add an extra layer of weed protection, but it also provided a pleasing contrast to the flagstone pavers, enhancing their natural beauty.
